Existing Home Demands. [#DHallTheINSIDER]

October’s Existing Home Sales reported at highest pace since the summer despite low inventory. This speaks volumes in regards to the market’s strength. Sales were up 2% for the month, beating expectations. First-time homebuyers increased to 32% of buyers.

When it comes to existing homes, there’s likely some features quite outdated that buyers aren’t interested in—linoleum floors, popcorn ceilings, wood paneling, ceramic tile countertops, shag carpeting, avocado great appliances (specific much?)—but what features are on the hot list? Think more energy efficient, personalized floorplans, wood flooring, sun room, and soft natural tones (but dark and rich are gaining in desire).

Fed Chair Janet Yellen announced she will be stepping down in early 2018 upon the swearing in of her successor. She was originally expected to serve until 2024.

It’s that time to break out the skis and, as always, there’s a list for that: The most (and least) affordable ski towns. Harrison, MI came in as the top spot for most affordable and you likely guessed it, Aspen, CO the ski mecca came in at No. 1 on the least affordable list.
